Studying and earning a degree at the BME Faculty of Architecture is a mark of prestige. Building upon our deep-rooted traditions, our educational mission is to maintain this standing by training our young colleagues in the field of architecture with a contemporary and creative approach—one that explores and remains mindful of the challenges of the future.
The education of architects began 155 years ago at the Department of Architecture and Engineering of the Joseph Nádor University of Technology. The first instructors were the defining architects of that era: Imre Steindl, Alajos Hauszmann, and Frigyes Schulek.
Nearly every prominent Hungarian architect graduated from our Faculty, which boasts an illustrious history. Architects from this university were already highly sought after throughout Europe and across the globe as early as the first half of the 20th century. László Hudecz achieved international fame through his creative work in China, as did Imre Makovecz through his work in Hungary.
The architecture degree from BME was among the first Hungarian diplomas to be officially recognized by the European Union, and the degree issued by our Faculty is accepted and respected all over the world.
