Students’ Scientific Conference (TDK – Tudományos Diákkonferencia) is a prestigious extracurricular program designed to introduce university students to the world of academic research. It serves as a professional platform where students, guided by a faculty mentor, conduct independent research on a specific topic and present their findings once a year through a formal thesis and an oral defense. Beyond the competition, TDK fosters critical thinking, specialized expertise, and essential presentation skills, often acting as a bridge to doctoral studies or a competitive career in R&D. The most outstanding works from local institutional rounds advance to the National Scientific Students’ Council (OTDK), a biennial event that represents the pinnacle of undergraduate and graduate scholarly achievement in Hungary.
At the Faculty of Architecture, the TDK framework uniquely expands to embrace the intersection of technical research and creative practice. In addition to academic research papers, students are encouraged to submit research-based design projects that explore innovative architectural solutions, as well as original artworks in visual and fine arts that push the boundaries of aesthetic expression.
For specific research themes, please consult the Departments’ websites or your preferred instructors.
