The 14th edition of Mood for Wood, an international hands-on design workshop, is now open for applications. The program is dedicated to students and young designers in the fields of architecture and design from Poland, Hungary, and Germany, offering a unique opportunity to combine conceptual work with real-world implementation. The workshop will take place in Poznań, Poland, from August 28 to September 8, 2025.
Unlike typical student workshops, Mood for Wood emphasizes the entire process of participatory design, from idea development to final construction. Under the guidance of international architects, designers, and professional carpenters, participants will:
- Design and build wooden furniture or spatial installations,
- Work on specific urban sites in Poznań,
- Engage with local communities to understand their needs and co-create solutions.
2025 Theme: New Territory
This year’s edition focuses on the Strzeszyn district in Poznań – a newly developed residential area in need of public spaces for integration and everyday use. Five sites will be transformed as part of the workshop:
- A mini-market at a former bus station,
- A „green classroom” in the Environmental Education Park,
- A community space in Albert Camus Park,
- A recreational zone at the wild beach on Lake Strzeszyńskie,
- A fifth location, to be revealed during the workshop.
Each installation will be tailored to the local context and built collaboratively by participants.
