Our faculty has various R&D projects in cooperation with partners from the building industry. Members of the faculty are regularly invited  as professional advisors of structural and building damage investigations. We have experts in preservation and reconstruction of historical buidings. We have expertise in cooperative and community design projects.

R&D projects

Colouring design, TARI, Gábor PhD

Design of the re-colouring of concrete block housing buildings in Budapest, Tata, Tatabánya, and Komárom, based on municipal commission.

CAADence International Conference in cooperation with Graphisoft, Autodesk and STUDIO IN-EX. The aim of the conference was to help to transfer and spread newly appearing design technologies, educational methods and digital modeling supported by information technology in architecture.

Shading systems: with the contribution of the Laboratory of Building Acoustics, Krüllung Shading Technology Ltd is developing novel shading systems that improve facade sound insulation of buildings in order to enhance acoustic comfort in offices and other premises. The 2 year long R&D project (GINOP-2.1.7-15-2016-00593) will end in August, 2019.

2025. október 9-én volt a BME Építészmérnöki Kar Urbanisztika Tanszéke által 6. alkalommal szervezett nemzetközi doktori konferencia, a „Facinf Post-Socialist Urban Heritage” nyitóeseménye. A három napos DOCONF2025 rendezvényt Prof. Zaránd Gergely DSc, a BME tudományos rektorhelyettese, Dr. habil Varga Tamás DLA, az Építészmérnöki Kar dékánja, és Dr. habil Benkő Melinda PhD, a DOCONF konferenciasorozat alapítója vezette be. A megnyitó vendégeként Jonathan Lacôte, Franciaország magyarországi nagykövete is beszélt, majd átadta a szót Prof. Richard Kleinnek, a DOCOMOMO France elnökének, akinek előadásával megkezdődött a kétnapos szakmai program. Meeting of architecture schools within the EELISA European UniversityOn Oct 9, 2025 the Budapest University of Technology and Economics Faculty of Architecture hosted the first meeting of the heads of architecture schools within the EELISA European University network, represented by Dr. Varga Tamás, the Dean of BME FA, Jean-Baptiste de Froment, director of the PSL Research University ENSA Paris-Malaquais, Mehmet Küçükmehmetoğlu, the Dean of Istanbul Technical University Faculty of Architecture, David Escudero, Head of Institutional Relations at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid ETSAM, and Andreas Sonderegger, Co-Head of the Institute for Constructive Design at ZHAW School of Architecture, Design and Civil Engineering.The participants expressed their strong intention to continue collaboration within the EELISA network in the future.Eelisa - European University Budapest University of Technology and Economics - BME ...
