Between 3-5 November 2021, researchers of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Archaeological Prospection and Virtual Archaeology, a leader institution for archaeological prospection conducted a magnetometer survey in the area of the former Roman camp, the baths and vicus of Százhalombatta-Dunafüred.
The non-destructive survey has revealed the contours of the underground buildings of the former Roman auxiliary castrum, limes, baths and vicus, providing a basis for further research and virtual reconstruction.
The survey was carried out in the framework of the Interreg DTP project Living Danube Limes, with the local professional support of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics – Faculty of Architecture – Department of History of Architecture and Monument Preservation, Municipality of Százhalombatta, the „Matrica” Museum and Archaeological Park and the János Banner Foundation. We are looking forward to see the new scientific results of the survey.
